Trouble shoot

OVENS

Sometimes your oven just will not work. If you have an electronic clock check it is set to manual and that the time is showing. Remember too in newer properties there is an isolated switch above the bench near the oven. If you hear a pop it is likely to be an element has blown.

COOKTOPS

Sometimes an element will blow and take out the fuse and nothing will work. Trying turning the fuse back on and if it stays on you will be able to determine which element has gone.

GAS COOKTOPS

If no gas is coming out check if the valve under the cooktop in the cupboard has not been closed. If it is still open call your gas company to make sure there is no issue with gas supply in your area.

DISHWASHERS

If the dishwasher is getting stuck on the rinse cycle or if water is being left behind check the filter to make sure it is clean. Also check that the drain hose is not kinked anywhere.

DRYERS

If the dryer keeps turning off check the door is closing properly. Also check the filter is free of lint. The filter should be cleaned after every cycle.

RANGEHOODS

A lot of the time when a rangehood has stopped working all of a sudden it is because the cord has come out of the power point or your cook books in the cupboard have turned off the power point.

GENERAL ADVICE

If you don't use your dishwasher, washing machine or dryer every day you will save energy and prolong the life of the appliance if your turn off the power at the power point and turn off the water taps.

For appliances including cooktops ovens, if they have not been used for a month moisture will build up and this will affect operation. All you need to do is run a full cycle or for ovens turn on for 30 minutes on medium heat and for cooktops turn the element on for 10 mins.
